TeliSwitch Founding Team

TeliSwitch was co-founded by Rafi Ben-Atar, Shaike Zalitzky and Prof. Moshe Gottlieb.

Rafi Ben-Atar and Shaike Zalitzky together bring 40 years of experience and knowledge in the field of broadband communications to TeliSwitch. They have initiated several successful start-ups in the fiber optic and broadband powerline industries. In addition to TeliSwitch in 2006, they teamed with Prof. Moshe Gottlieb to co-found an optical nano-fabrication based solution company – TeliWare. In 1999, Rafi Ben-Atar and Shaike Zalitzky established MainNet Communications, a broadband powerline access solutions provider that was acquired by a US entity in 2005. Rafi Ben-Atar held the CEO position and was a member of the company’s board, while Shaike Zalitzky was the company’s CTO and VP R&D. They were both intimately involved in several innovative technological achievements in the powerline communication field. In parallel with their roles at MainNet, from 2001-2005, Rafi Ben-Atar was co-CEO and Shaike Zalitzky was a member of the board at PCC AG ( and ABB ( PCC AG, a German company that develops utilities applications, is owned by a German power utility – MVV. During that period, PPC AG established and partially owned two telecom operators: Manet ( in Germany and Linz-Strom ( in Austria.

Before the establishment of MainNet, Rafi Ben-Atar served as Senior Manager in the Access Division of ECI Telecom (NASDAQ: ECIL) and Shaike Zalitzky was R&D Director at the same company where he held various R&D management positions and was heavily engaged in the development of innovative technologies, which together generated billions of $US in revenue.

Prof. Moshe Gottlieb, a professor of chemical engineering at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU) since 1991, Prof. Gottlieb is internationally recognized for his research and academic contributions to polymer science and rheology & nanotechnology. He frequently provides consultancy services to research institutions and industrial conglomerates such as Los Alamos National Laboratory, Procter& Gamble, ExxonMobil, and start-up companies.
